Both are usually traced back to the same upstream change — feed solids, polymer dose or cloth condition. The triage flow on this page finds the cause in most cases without a service visit.

</details>
<details>

Why is my cycle time getting longer every shift?

The cloth is blinding. Check the wash-water pressure, the cloth-wash interval, and the polymer concentration. A blinding cloth can usually be recovered with a proper wash; if it has blinded hard, the cloth is at the end of its life and a replacement set is faster than chasing the symptom.

</details>
<details>

My filtrate is cloudy but the cake looks fine. What gives?

Almost always a torn cloth, a mis-seated cloth or a worn corner seam. Open the press and inspect the cloth on the plate that aligns with the cloudy filtrate port. A single torn corner is a five-minute replacement, not a service call.

</details>
<details>

The hydraulic pressure keeps climbing. Is that a problem?

Membrane presses raise the hydraulic pressure during the squeeze phase — that is normal. A continuous climb in the closing-phase pressure is not. It points to a ram seal, a cylinder seal or a pressure-relief that is set too high. Check against the parameter sheet before adding more hydraulic pressure.

</details>
<details>

How do I know whether to call service or replace the part myself?

If the part is on the parameter sheet, the symptom is in the trend log, and the consumables check is clean — replace it yourself with the spare on the shelf. If the symptom is across multiple systems (cloth + plate + hydraulic) or the trend log is inconsistent, call service. Sharing the trend-log screenshot at the first call cuts the diagnosis time considerably.

</details>
<details>

Can I run the press at a higher pressure to push through a slow cycle?

Not as a habit. Past the design pressure, the gains in flow rate shrink fast and cloth life shortens. A bench test plots the curve so you can pick the operating point where each extra bar stops paying back — and the page on operating parameters sets that out in detail.

</details>
<details>

Do these troubleshooting steps apply to belt and screw presses too?

Partially — the symptoms overlap (wet cake, long cycles), but the controls are different (belt speed, screw speed, flocculation point, head pressure). The selection page sets out which technology fits which feed; if you are running belt or screw, the same triage principles apply but the parts list is different.

</details>

Need a hand?

Send Us the Trend Log, Get a Fix

Share a screenshot of the trend log, the symptom and the consumables used this week.
