Mobile Filter Press for Skid-Mounted On-Site Dewatering

A complete batch dewatering station built onto one transportable frame: press, feed pump, conditioning tank, hydraulics and controls. Truck it in, set it on a hardstand, connect slurry and power, and run the first cycle the same day.

What Ships on One SkidOne truck, one lift, one power connection

The point of a mobile unit is that nothing has to be sourced on site. These eight items leave the factory piped, wired and wet-tested on the same frame.

  • Filter press with clothed plate pack Chamber plates in the 500–1000 mm series, 10–30 plates, clothed for the slurry you declare at order stage.
  • Feed pump with flow control Progressive-cavity or air-diaphragm pump with VFD or air regulator, so feed rate and pressure are set from the panel.
  • Agitated conditioning tank Slurry tank with mixer on the skid, sized for one full batch, so conditioning happens where the press is.
  • Hydraulic power pack Compact unit closes the pack and holds closing pressure through the feed and squeeze phases.
  • Control panel — push-button or PLC/HMI Cycle timers, pressure readout, pump interlocks and alarm outputs as standard; touch-screen HMI optional.
  • Filtrate and drip collection tray Stainless or polypropylene tray channels filtrate to a single drain connection and keeps the hardstand clean at discharge.
  • Pipework, valves and gauges Slurry, filtrate, air-blow and wash manifolds pre-installed, with pressure gauges where an operator needs to read them.
  • Forklift pockets, lifting lugs and adjustable feet The frame is built for truck loading and crane lifting, and levelled on uneven ground without shims.

From Truck to First CakeA realistic start-up schedule, and what the site has to provide

Mobilisation is a half-day job for a standard skid. The table below is the sequence we plan against, and the last column is the checklist sent before delivery.

PhaseTime on siteWhat happensWhat the site provides
Position & level0–1 hSkid is craned or forked onto the hardstand, feet are adjusted, walkway and handrails unfolded.Level load-bearing hardstand, crane or forklift access, clear space per model
Connect services1–2 hSlurry line, power, wash water and drain are connected; hydraulic oil level and panel I/O checked.Power supply per model, slurry feed point, drain, optional wash water
Commissioning run2–3 hDry cycle test, then a clean-water run, then the first slurry batch at reduced pressure.Operator present, sludge available, cake skip or bags in place
First cake & handover3–4 hFull-pressure cycle, cake discharged, cloths inspected, basic operator training given.Cake handling: skip, conveyor or big-bag station
No permanent foundation is required. A level, load-bearing hardstand with drainage is enough; larger units may sit on a compacted gravel or concrete pad for stability during hydraulic closing.

Fixed Plant or Mobile Skid?Match the format to how the sludge and the site behave

Your situationWhy a skid earns its keepTypical build
The sludge source moves — pits, dredge berths, pipeline routesThe press follows the job instead of the sludge being hauled to a fixed plant630 or 800 series on an open skid or trailer
Short campaign, seasonal peak or pilot windowCapacity is deployed only for the weeks it is needed, then returned or moved on500 or 630 series, rental-friendly specification

Pick the Skid SizeFour plate series, chosen from batch size and transport envelope

Start from the cake you need per cycle and the truck or container you plan to move it on. Both are fixed early, because they set the skid length.

Mobile Series SpecificationsPlate data, installed power and the transport envelope

Mobile units are built on the 500–1000 mm plate series with 10–30 plates, which keeps the skid inside a normal truck or container envelope while still covering most on-site duties.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. How long does mobilisation actually take?

A standard skid is positioned and connected in half a day, and first cake is typically produced 2–4 hours after power and slurry are available. Trailer-mounted units cut handling further — the unit is towed into position and levelled.

Q2. Does a mobile filter press need a foundation?

No permanent foundation is required. A level, load-bearing hardstand with drainage is enough; the skid sits on adjustable feet. Larger units may be placed on a compacted gravel or concrete pad for stability during hydraulic closing.

Q3. What does the site have to provide?

Power at the rating in the services table, a slurry feed connection, a drain for filtrate, wash water if the cloth-wash option is fitted, and a way to take cake away — skip, conveyor or big-bag station. Where grid power is missing, a generator set can be added.

Q4. Can a mobile press run unattended?

PLC/HMI skids run feed, press, squeeze and alarm sequences without an operator present. Cake discharge still normally needs local oversight, unless an automated plate shifter and cake conveyor are specified.

Q5. Open skid, canopy or full container?

Open skids suit temperate sites with an existing building or shelter. A canopy handles sun and rain at low cost. A full container enclosure is specified for cold, dusty, high-security or unattended sites where panels and hydraulics need protection.

Q6. Is a mobile press as efficient as a permanent one?

Yes on a per-cycle basis — the same plates, cloths and hydraulics are used. The difference is footprint and transportability, not dewatering performance. Continuous duty at one site favours a fixed chamber or membrane press on cost per cycle.

Q7. Can I rent instead of buying?

Loway supports rental and lease-to-own programmes for mobile filter presses in many regions. Rental is common for emergency response, pilot testing and seasonal campaigns. Send the duty and duration for a rental quotation.
